Charl-Pierre Naudé is an award-winning South African poet , critic and social commentator. He has published three collections of poetry in Afrikaans and one in English . Some of his poems and essays have been translated into Dutch and German and included in anthologies. Since 2000, he has published regularly in European literary journals. Naudé received the Ingrid Jonker Prize in 1997, the M-Net Prize for Afrikaans Poetry as well as the Protea Prize in 2005.
Naudé won the 10th National Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences (NIHSS) awards announced on 27 March 2025 with his debut novel The Equality of Shadows. These awards are presented every year to honour the significant contributions of groundbreaking research, powerful storytelling, and transformative scholarship.
